'Comic Connections' is a public work of art created by KEINO and Commissioned as part of the Most Creative Train Station project. This vast piece, spanning over 15 metres, celebrates almost 200 years of train travel and the birth of Middlesbrough.
It is a creative, mixed media compilation of comic characters, painted textures, rhyme, hand drawn typography and archival and contemporary photography, all digitally rendered and printed onto vinyl. The artwork has a positive, nostalgic feel and uses a contemporary graphic novel/comic format to take us on a journey through time. Narrated by Mr Joseph Pease - ‘The father of Middlesbrough’ - the work tells a tale of train travel and the tenacity of Teesside throughout the years, in an informative yet playful and lyrical way. ‘Comic Connections’ will be exhibited in The Tunnel Gallery, Middlesbrough Train Station, this autumn. |
